Wittenstein, B., & Hsu, C. (2018). The boo-boos that changed the world: a true story about an accidental invention (really!). Watertown, MA: Charlesbridge.
Texas Bluebonnet Reading Club
Before the 1920’s Band-Aids did not
exist. Fortunately, a husband that simply wanted to help his wife who was
accident prone came up with the great idea of using cotton to solve the
problem. Earle Dickson was always trying to find ways to take care of Josephine’s
injuries. One day, he took adhesive tape, sterile gauze, and
crinoline to create what is now known as a Band-Aid. The Boo-Boos That Changed the
World delivers an interesting and humorous narrative about the
creation of Band-Aids. Children will really enjoy the appealing design and
illustrations.
