What is YA literature?
Summary:
Young adult literature often includes a youthful and highly
independent protagonist. It basically draws upon a sense of how adolescents
develop. The main characters go through confrontations, significant changes in
the life, and obtain the consequences of decisions and actions. The point of
view presents a youth's interpretation of the events that happen within the
story. Young adult literature contains contemporary issues in a brief time
period and limited setting.
Reflection:
Young adult literature is a division in reading that we have
to be very careful about. Some young adult books include issues and language
that might not be appropriate for everyone. As a future librarian, it is
important to be familiar with the topics that most young adult books cover so
that we can advice the adequate students about them.
