Summary: The
principal walks into the classroom, holding the new girl’s hand and stating
that her name is Maya. She sits next to Chloe, but since she looks and dresses
differently no one talks to her and Chloe simply looks away. Maya tries to play
with them but she is always ignored.
Sadly, Maya plays alone and eventually stops coming to school. One day, the teacher gives a lesson about
kindness and that’s when Chloe realizes that ignoring Maya was wrong.
Review: This
unforgettable book is great to read at the beginning of the year to students
from second though fifth grade. I love how it shows how each small kindness
makes the world a little better. These are things that happen in real life and
teaching students about it a t a young age will definitely make a difference.
