Sendak, M. (1963). Where
the wild things are. NY: HarperCollins.
Summary: Max gets into trouble and his mother sends
him to bed without dinner. He falls asleep and immediately his room transforms
into a forest surrounded by an ocean. Max finds himself in a place where the
wild things are and after showing no fear, he is named king of the wild things.
After days, Max gets tired and starts missing his mom. So he puts the creatures
to sleep just like his mom did to him. Something very special is waiting for
him when he wakes up.
Review: This is a great book for parents to read to
their children as a bedtime story. It’s truly magical and the illustrations
prove that. The message shows that no matter what happens, a mother will always
be there for their children.
