Caterina and the Lemonade Stand

Kono, E. E. (2014). Caterina and the lemonade stand. New York, NY: Dial Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Group (USA) ILLC.

Summary: Caterina is a little owl that wants to make enough money to buy a new scooter. She comes up with the idea that a lemonade stand will help her raise the money she needs. She soon realizes that there are others that are doing the same thing as her, so she needs to make sure that somehow she stands out. She succeeds by making her lemonade stand as unique as possible. Caterina raises the money she needs and buys the scooter she wanted.

Review: This is an excellent book for the lower grades. The illustrations have wonderful details that make this book a great one to read aloud. It’s an outstanding source to use to motivate students to be creative and unique.
