Summary: While pushing Rose in a baby stroller, Penny finds a
beautiful, shiny marble on her neighbor’s lawn. Making sure no one is looking,
she puts it in her pocket and runs home. She loves the marble but then she sees
Mrs. Goodwin, her neighbor, standing exactly where she found the marble, she’s
afraid that she might know she took it. The guilt in her doesn’t let her eat or
sleep. She even has bad dreams. The next day, Penny takes the marble back and
to her surprise ends up keeping it with Mrs. Goodwin’s permission.
Review: It is a
wonderful story to teach about not taking things without permission. It shows
that it is easier to simply ask. Great chapter book read for second graders. The
artwork presented in this book is simply amazing.
