Summary: Owl is ready for bed; however, he suddenly hears a squeak
sound. He starts searching high and low and all throughout his house to find
out where it is coming from. He searches and searches, but no evidence is seen.
He decides to take action by destroying his roof because he thinks the sound is
coming from there. Nevertheless, when he is about to fall asleep again, the
noise is heard again. He keeps on destroying walls until his entire house is
gone. Owl thought he would finally have a good night sleep, however, as he
tucked into bed again he hears the squeak sound. Since there’s nothing left
other than his house he realizes that the sound is coming from a tiny mouse. He
says “good night” and they both fall asleep.
Review: Children of all ages will enjoy this hilarious book. It is
such a cute, little story that can be enjoyed before going to bed. They will be
so engaged trying to figure out when the owl will finally find out where the
noise is coming from. As a teacher, this book can be used as a predictive text.
Students can be asked “what do you think will happen next?”
