Summary: Chato, a low-riding cat with six stripes just couldn’t believe his luck.
He attempts
to fool a family of mice by inviting them to dinner. They accept, but only
under the condition that their good friend, Chorizo, from their old
neighborhood can attend as well. Along with his friend Novio Boy, they
cook up a grand feast to welcome them to the barrio. The family of mice think
they’re going to dine at Chato’s, however, his plans were very different. When
they arrived, Chato and his friend were in shock.
Review: I really enjoyed
reading this book. It can be used to teach about friendship, differences,
dishonesty, and even bullying. There are many words in Spanish in this book,
but the author does a great job giving context clues and providing pictures to
help the reader figure out what the text means. The beautiful illustrations do
an excellent job of showing the character’s expressions.
