Rules

Lord, C. (2008).   Rules.  NY:  Scholastic.
Summary: Catherine is a girl that all she wants is a normal life. However, she thinks this is impossible because her little brother, David has autism.  She feels embarrassed by his condition and wants to avoid things that have him involved. Catherine decides to form a list of rules for him to follow and keep away from the embarrassing behavior he displays. In the summer, Catherine meets Jason and Kristi. Now she is the one behaving in ways she never thought she would.

Review: This is such an inspiring story that shows readers what autism is like and how it can impact a family. Yet, it is something that shouldn’t embarrass anyone. I love how it shows real life situations and how actual people deal with them.
