Summary: In
Louisiana, slaves had a day off from work on Sundays. They could only gather in
one place on this day, an open field that they all loved known as Congo
Square. Throughout the week, everyone
was anxiously counting the days to go because they would play African music,
dance, play, and sing. That was their
only opportunity t to really have a taste of freedom.
Review: Children ages four through eight would love this rhyming book. It has
extremely colorful pictures that will easily catch their attention. It is a
great way to teach about the African – American slavery that would take place many
years ago.
