1920’s. The collection of stories he shares display how difficult it was for
African American baseball players back in that era. Fortunately, thanks to them
and everything they dealt with is that players like Jackie Robinson had a
chance in the major big leagues. Everything changed!
Review: This is a remarkable book to read aloud to
third and fourth grade students. It is a great way to introduce segregation. It
shows how life was so difficult for African Americans. The illustrations are
amazing and look like actual photographs.
