Summary: This is the
story of eleven slaves from the south that were owned by Fairchilds. Each page
describes each person, what they did, their dreams, and how much they were
worth. The slave that was worth the most was four hundred dollars and the least
was one hundred dollars. At the end, the author shares where he got his
information from and the reason why he wanted people to know about it.
Review: It is a very
sad book, but children will be able to see how slaves would live back then. It
is perfect for elementary students because it is very easy to read. The
artistic work is beautiful.
